April 23, 2019 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm | Cost : $25 per person
If you are looking to further your education on wine, then join us for one of our wine classes.
This class is called the Component Tasting. Components are the basis of the flavor of any wine. The ability to discern components (sweetness, acidity, tannin, bitterness, alcohol….) impacts a taster’s skill at determining wine quality, origin, ageability and drinkability. Certified Wine Educator Gary L. Twining literally wrote the book on component tasting and passed the Institute of Masters of Wine’s blind identification using components as the basis for his deductions. He will illustrate how to detect these components by a short tasting of imbalances and discuss where in the mouth they are sensed and their importance to wine. We will then taste some wines “blind” (without knowing what they are) and discuss the levels of the components that are in each wine.
This will be a very educational and enjoyable evening for those who wish to improve their tasting ability. Gary is a very experienced and down-to-earth wine educator that will make your experience very comfortable. No experience necessary, just come and have a great time and enjoy some great wines.
